Launching An Album

After all the work in the studio has been done, all the songs recorded and the album completed. How do you let the people know about your album as a choir or church? As simple as the answer might be, yet it eludes choirs, managers and even record labels. Launching, yes launching is the best way to create that hype around your album while also making people aware that you have released.

Here are the things to consider when doing a launch;

· Marketing & Advertising

The point of the launch is to make people aware of your album and also sell copies in the process. So you need to make sure you work hard in getting people into the launch because the more people present on the launch the more chances you stand in selling a lot of copies.

· Incentives/Extras

People always need to be motivated in order to buy something which is why you must always have a little extra for the people that will be buying the album on the day. You can start by putting the album prices on special; reduce the price from the normal selling price. Also have extra things to give along with the album to say for example first 50 people to buy the album, things like church calendar, key rings, etc.

· Preparedness

It is always advisable not to sing life especially the tracks on the album to prevent any mistakes from happening like maybe if one important member of the choir is not available as a result the songs won’t sound as perfect as the recorded ones or nibhimbe; As that might compromise the quality of the product to your audiences and affect the sales. So miming or using the album in the background is highly advisable. You can perform other tracks which are not on the album live just to assure people that you can sing.

Also try to get opinions from the audiences before the actual launch, so to get an idea of the tracks that might be favourable to your audience and perform only those songs. You don’t really need to perform the whole album as it might give away too much and people might have opinions that may cause a negative effect to the sales of the album.

NOTE: Launching an album does not only make people aware of your album but it will also help in creating the hype around your album and in turn increase the sales. Choir/churches do take time to market your projects and make sure that they are easily accessible to the people because piracy is a result of the projects not being available when people have money and need them. You can also launch your album in different places; there is really nothing wrong with launch in different towns as that will really market your product tremendously.

Being active pays off, choirs go out and sell yourselves and your music.
