THE UBZ ANNUAL CHOIR COMPETITION TROPHY

Apart from the recording deal, the prize money and various other prizes won during the UBZ Choir Competition, the rotational trophy remains the most important of them all. Reason being that the winner gets to have their church or choir name engraved in the metal plate on the trophy. Their name will be visible for all to see for as long as the trophy is in existence.

It gives you the bragging rights of having been the best choir on the day. No amount of money can buy you that right of being the best choir out of 15 choirs. The trophy has had 2 temporary owners so far which are 2009 winners Abanqobi from Alexandra and the current holders also from Alexandra Christian Amaphikelela winners in 2010. Although the trophy almost left Alexandra to Tsakane as number 2 and 3 were both from Tsakane.

Question on everyones lips at this point is that can Alexandra choirs keep the trophy in Alexandra or has it outstayed its visit in Alexandra?

The 13th of August 2011 will definitely answer these questions for us.
