What is Good Friday?

Good Friday is a Christian holiday celebrated traditionally as the day on which Jesus Christ was crucified.

A lot of questions have been asked by non-Christians or even Christians themselves regarding this day, questions such as; Does the bible instruct Christians to remember Christ's death by honouring a certain day? Why is called Good Friday, was the death of Christ through crucifixion a good thing?

To answer these questions, the bible does not instruct Christians to remember Christ's death by honouring a certain day (I stand corrrected on this matter) however we are encouraged to honour His death everyday of our lives. What the Roman authorities and Jewish people did to Jesus was not good, however, the results of Christ’s death are very good! Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” First Peter 3:18 tells us, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.”

Bottom line is that we do not celebrate Jesus' death but we are rejoicing in the love our Lord God has for us as His children so much that he laid down His only Son so we could be saved from our sins. It is vital for us as Christians and as Zion that we never forget the happenings and results of this day, so it can always be treated with respect it deserves for our kid's kids to understand the truth.

DO YOU SEE THE IMPORTANCE OF CELEBRATING GOOD FRIDAY IN THIS DAY & AGE AND WHAT DO YOU THINK IS IMPORTANT FOR CHURCHES TO DO WHEN CELEBRATING THIS DAY OR EVENT? send us your comments.
